Chip Ganassi Racing Managing Director Mike Hull says that being excited in an understatement as the team prepare to welcome seven time Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson of Hendrick Motorsports to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course next week.
Speaking to Paddock Eye on Wednesday Hull said:
Excited would be an understatement to have @JimmieJohnson driving for us @IMS . I’m a big Fan! @CGRTeams has been lucky to have been given the opportunity to be associated with Champions as teammates for thirty years with platform depth to be successful. This is a one-day evaluation/introduction, which will give Jimmie a small glimpse of what #IndyCar Racing truly is. It’s great that he has the sheer ability to seamlessly cross-over. Our team is looking forward to next Wednesday on the GP Track.
Johnson who will retire from the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series at the end of the season has expressed an interest in competing in IndyCar road course events and the test with Ganassi as Hull says will give him the opportunity to get a taste of what an IndyCar is like and whether it is something he wants to pursue.
