Defending NTT IndyCar Series champion Scott Dixon in the No.9 PNC Bank Chip Ganassi Racing Honda says that the team is going to dig hard this weekend in Detroit to try and get the championship battle on the rest of the season with at least one victory this weekend.
The Iceman said that he is excited to get to Detroit and that doubleheaders have always been a favorite of his and that he wishes that there were more on the schedule.
Dixon said that with warm temperatures predicted this weekend it is important that you aren’t hurting too much following the first race as it is a condensed schedule with the practice session on Friday, qualifying for race one on Saturday morning while qualifying for the second race takes place on Sunday morning.
Dixon is actually the defending Detroit race winner having taken victory in round two of the doubleheader here in 2019 after the series was forced to cancel the race here last season.
Dixon’s teammate, Jimmie Johnson in the No.48 Carvana Honda says that he is excited to back on track in Detroit this weekend having been out of the car for the Indianapolis 500 and he believes that the race on Saturday will give him an opportunity to make improvements for Sunday’s race.
Marcus Ericsson says he hopes to have a really strong weekend here having taken his best IndyCar result to date here when he scored a second-place finish behind his now teammate Scott Dixon.
