Scuderia Ferrari ended the 2016 season in a stronger position then results showed according to Kimi Raikkonen.
The Finn, who ended the year in sixth place, 26 points behind team mate Sebastian Vettel scored four podium finishes in 2016, with a second in Spain, third in Russia, second in Bahrain and a third in Austria.
The Iceman is heading into his fourth season with Ferrari since his return to the team in 2014.
Raikkonen said that the team keep improving and learning. Raikkonen said although he was happy with his overall performance this season compared to the last two years, he was left disappointed with the 2016 season. Ferrari were unable to mount a challenge to Mercedes in the race for the championship failing to win a Grand Prix and finishing the year in third place in the championship behind Red Bull and Mercedes.
Raikkonen, who is the oldest driver on the grid is along with Fernando Alonso the most experienced driver on the grid having both made their Formula One debut’s in 2001.
Ferrari made changes to the engineering side on Raikkonen’s crew in 2016 and the Finn will be hoping that will help challenge for the championship next season.
