The 2025 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season-opening Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg presented by RP Funding is exactly two weeks away today. A lot has happened in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES over the last week, let alone over the off-season. On Tuesday, the news came that J Douglas Boles, President of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, was named President of the NTT INDYCAR SERIES following the sudden departure of Jay Frye.
On Friday, as the Indianapolis Motor Speedway celebrated 100 days until the 109th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge, we had news that Conor Daly, who is due to compete for full-time for Juncos Hollinger Racing this season, had lost his main sponsor, Polkadot just two weeks before the start of the season, however, Daly has confirmed that he will be in Sebring on Monday and Tuesday for pre-season testing and that he will also be at the season-opening Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg. Daly confirmed that he will clarify the situation during his podcast next week.
On Friday, Dale Coyne Racing announced that Rinus VeeKay will join the team for the 2025 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season alongside Jacob Abel. The two-day test on Monday and Tuesday will be the first and only time the whole field will come together before the opening race in St Pete.
We will also get the opportunity to see how PREMA Racing gets on as they prepare for the first INDYCAR SERIES season with Robert Schwartzman and Callum Ilott. We have new drivers in new places up and down the grid with new owners within teams. We have new ownership at Ed Carpenter Racing and Andretti Global. It is going to be interesting to see how this season pans out and whether defending series champion Alex Palou can do a threepeat and if he does. he would be the first driver to do so since Dario Franchitti did it also driving the No.10 Chip Ganassi Racing Dallara in 2011.
Fox takes over as the official broadcaster of the NTT INDYCAR SERIES from NBC Sports. Fox has spent considerable money promoting the NTT INDYCAR SERIES and did a great job activating its broadcasting in INDYCAR at last weekend’s Super Bowl.
