McLaren CEO Zak Brown says that the team have plan in place regarding their 2019 Formula One driver line-up that they are currently executing.

Brown has revealed that the Woking based outfit came close to signing Daniel Ricciardo from Aston Martin Red Bull Racing and that they held a number of discussions when it became clear that the Australian wanted to leave Red Bull.

It was announced on Friday however that Ricciardo has signed for the Renault Sport F1 Team and Ricciardo’s move to Enstone does not impact McLaren’s plans for 2019.

Fernando Alonso is taking the summer break to decide his future and we understand that the Spaniard who is currently leading the World Endurance Championship will announce he is moving to the IndyCar Series with McLaren full-time in partnership with Andretti Autosport clearing the way for Carlos Sainz to join Stoffel Vandoorne in the F1 team.
