Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden in the No.2 XPEL Chevrolet says that the hot weather at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca has not impacted the way in which the team has gone about in getting ready for their race programme.

Speaking to Paddock Eye following practice at Laguna, Newgarden who is third in points said that it has had no impact on how the preparations go.

Josef Newgarden led the opening practice session ahead of Saturday’s qualifying at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca with a time of 01:11.4103s just ahead of Colton Herta and Romain Grosjean.

Fellow championship contender and points leader Will Power was seventh fastest with a time of 01:11.9858s.

Scott McLaughlin was P11 with a time of 01:12.0877s. The session was plagued with drivers going off track and with that came plenty of dust on the track.
