Chip Ganassi Racing’s Jimmie Johnson in the No.48 Carvana Honda will roll off from 23rd place in today’s GMR Grand Prix of Indianapolis on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course after a difficult qualifying on Friday. Speaking following the session, the seven-time NASCAR champion said:
Made our way through the qualifying session, didn’t do my best work there so I am a little frustrated with myself but I learned a lot today and looking forward to tomorrow’s race.
Series points leader Scott Dixon in the No.9 PNC Bank Honda said he felt he missed something from the transition from the Firestone blacks to the reds and says that due to the competitive nature of the NTT IndyCar Series this season if you miss something like they did you can fall back, however, the Iceman feels that they have a good race car for today’s 85 lap race.
In 2018, Scott Dixon started the race from 18th and finished on the podium in second place so he knows what it takes and more importantly he has the machinery to get through the field to the front of the pack today.
