Chip Ganassi Racing’s defending NTT IndyCar Series champion Scott Dixon in the No.9 PNC Bank Honda says the team needs to improve their qualifying performance as they head into an extremely important week as preparations begin for the 105th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge which takes place in two weeks from today.

In response to a tweet from Paddock Eye ahead of Saturday’s GMR Grand Prix of Indianapolis, Chip Ganassi Racing Managing Director Mike Hull said:

Dixon started the race from 16th place and it was a case of damage limitation for the Iceman as he came home inside the top ten in ninth place.

Dixon heads into the 105th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge in two weeks time leading the championship by 13 points from teammate Alex Palou following the Spaniard’s third-place at the GMR Grand Prix of Indianapolis.

Dixon has one Indianapolis 500 win having taken victory in the Indianapolis 500 in 2008, the question is, can the Iceman score his second Indy 500 win this year.
