The big three Verizon IndyCar Series teams, Team Penske, Chip Ganassi Racing and Andretti Autosport have more than one thing in common going into the 101st running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil. The three teams may have Indianapolis 500 winners on board but they also have something else in common.
The three teams are running either former or current Formula One drivers for the 101st running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil.
Team Penske have former Williams and McLaren driver Juan Pablo Montoya in their ranks alongside Simon Pagenaud, Josef Newgarden, Will Power and Helio Castroneves. Chip Ganassi Racing have former Manor Racing pilot Max Chilton driving the No.8 Gallagher Honda alongside former Indy 500 winners Tony Kanaan and Scott Dixon while Charlie Kimball is also in the team.
Andretti Autosport’s line-up is full of Formula One drivers both past and present with reigning Indianapolis 500 winner Alexander Rossi, former Jordan, Honda and Super Aguri driver Takuma Sato and double world champion and McLaren Honda driver Fernando Alonso in their cars for the most famous motor race in the world.
