Josef Newgarden was announced as the driver of the No.2 Penske Chevrolet for 2017 earlier today but, where does that leave the man he replaces Juan Pablo Montoya?
Well there are a number of options. Montoya, who finished second in the championship in 2015, and won the Indianapolis 500 the same year has confirmed that he will be a full-time driver in the Verizon IndyCar Series in 2017, but where will he be?
Paddock Eye understands that Conor Daly is on the lookout for a new seat which could see a place open at Dale Coyne Racing.
Newgarden’s departure from Ed Carpenter Racing means that Ed Carpenter has a seat available and could be an option for Montoya. It is also possible that that there could be a seat available at Chip Ganassi Racing.
Following the announcement of Josef Newgarden’s move to Penske, there has been comment from Montoya.
