The 2021 NTT IndyCar Series was supposedly about the youth movement, with Rinus Veekay, Colton Herta, and Alex Palou all having won races this season, however, in the history books it will say that Sunday’s Indianapolis 500 was won by Helio Castroneves, a 46-year-old veteran of the sport.

In his first race of the season for Meyer Shank Racing, the Brazilian who had up until today won the Greatest Spectacle in Racing an incredible three times started the race from eighth place and did a fantastic job to manage his strategy and claim his fourth Indianapolis 500 victory joining a unique club of four-time winners, AJ Foyt, Al Unser and Rick Mears.

It was also the only Indianapolis 500 that Castroneves had not raced for Team Penske in and one of the first people to congratulate Spider-Man following his win were his old teammate’s Simon Pagenaud and Will Power while team Penske president Tim Cindric embraced his former driver.

Helio’s win is a huge boost for him as he has said that he wants to return to the NTT IndyCar Series full-time. As for Meyer Shank Racing, they are no longer the little team that could they are the big team that did just win the Indianapolis 500.
