The Verizon IndyCar Series heads into 2017 following an extremely successful 2016 which saw Team Penske’s Simon Pagenaud win the championship in only his second year with ‘The Captain’.

The 2017 season promises to be even more exciting with plenty of driver movements up and down the grid. Verizon IndyCar Series  and Indianapolis Motor Speedway Chief Marketing Officer CJ O’Donnell commented by saying:

We’re confident and focused on INDYCAR’s future, The theme ‘NEXT’ will effectively deliver our message of continued growth and expresses the momentum our sport has experienced the last three seasons.

The NEXT initiative will initially focus on Verizon IndyCar Series champion Simon Pagenaud and Indianapolis 500 winner and 2016 Verizon IndyCar Series Sunoco Rookie of the year Alexander Rossi.

The series will also make the most of the popularity of James Hinchcliffe, (The Mayor Of HinchTown), new Penske signing Josef Newgarden, Graham Rahal, Will Power and Ryan Hunter Reay along with several other drivers.

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway will once again play a key role in the series throughout the season in the build up to the 101st running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil as the hallowed Brickyard enters its second century as the home of motorsport.
