Scott McLaughlin in the No.3 Freightliner Team Penske Chevrolet was delighted with scoring his third career NTT IndyCar Series P1 Award for Sunday’s Portland Grand Prix, the penultimate race of the 2022 NTT IndyCar Series season.
Speaking following the action, McLaughlin commented saying:
“When the team wins, we all win. “For me, I’ve just got to focus on what I’m doing. If I can be at the front and take points off others and win the race, that’s exactly what we want to do. Until I’m mathematically out of it, I want to keep going hard and keep trying to win races.”
The New Zealander set the fastest time of 58.2349s and went on to say:
“Credit to everyone at Team Penske. “We weren’t great here last year, but we’ve come back here this year with three hot rods. We’re all pushing each other.”
McLaughlin starts alongside his team-mate and championship leader Will Power in the No.12 Verizon 5G Chevrolet while Josef Newgarden will serve a sixth place grid penalty and as a result starts the race from 8th place.
