The NTT INDYCAR SERIES is leading the way in female involvement in motorsport, thanks to the help of organizations like Women In Motorsports North America and PNC Bank’s Women In Motorsports initiative, which allows female engineers to work with Chip Ganassi Racing and on the No.9 PNC Bank Chip Ganassi Racing Honda team, driven by six-time NTT INDYCAR SERIES champion Scott Dixon. Chip Ganassi Racing’s Angela Ashmore became the first female engineer to win the Indianapolis 500 when she took victory with Marcus Ericsson in the No.8 Huski Chocolate Honda in May 2022. Ashmore is a graduate of Purdue University in Indiana.

In 2023, Caitlyn Brown was part of the winning crew on Josef Newgarden[‘s No.2 Shell Team Penske Chevrolet, who took victory while they repeated the win in 2024.

When it comes to female drivers’ involvement in the sport, Jamie Chadwick scored her maiden INDY NXT presented by Firestone race win in 2024. Speaking at the United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, over the weekend, the English driver said that she will not be racing in INDY NXT in 2025 and instead is hoping to get a drive in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES next season.

Hailie Deegan has moved from NASCAR to INDY NXT presented by Firestone and will drive for HMD Motorsports. She hopes her move will result in a place on the NTT INDYCAR SERIES grid.
