Dale Coyne with Vasser Sullivan Racing’s Sebastien Bourdais in the No.18 SealMaster Honda was third just ahead of Andretti Autosport’s Alexander Rossi in the No.27 NAPA Auto Parts Honda.
Gabby Chaves who led the session for a time was fifth fastest for Harding Racing just ahead of Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon in the No.9 PNC Bank Honda who set a fastest speed of 219.005MPH. Simon Pagenaud in the No.22 DXC Technology Chevrolet for Team Penske was seventh fastest just ahead of Andretti Herta Autosport’s Marco Andretti in the No.98 US Concrete Honda.
Defending series champion Josef Newgarden was 9th fastest while Chip Ganassi Racing’s Ed Jones in the No.10 NTT DATA Honda rounded out the top ten with a fastest speed of 217.914MPH ended the session just ahead of Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Takuma Sato.

Andretti Autosport’s Zach Veach was 14th fastest just ahead of Indianapolis 500 winner Will Power in the No.12 Verizon Team Penske Chevrolet. Ed Carpenter in the No.20 Fuzzy’s Vodka Chevrolet was 16th fastest just ahead of his team mate Spencer Pigot in the No.21 Fuzzy’s Vodka Chevrolet.
Detroit race 2 winner Ryan Hunter Reay in the No.28 DHL Honda was 18th fastest for Andretti Autosport just ahead of Dale Coyne Racing’s Zachary Claman DeMelo in the No.19 Paysafe Honda who had a throttle sensor issue in the earlier stages of the session.
Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Graham Rahal was 20th just ahead of Matheus ‘Matt’ Leist. Carlin Racing’s Max Chilton who experienced technical issues with his 59 Gallagher Chevrolet rounded out the field in 22nd place with a speed of 211.746MPH.
