NTT IndyCar Series driver Robert Wickens showed on Wednesday how inspirational he is to everyone not just in motorsport but worldwide as he stood up unaided and hugged his fiance Carli for the first time in sixth month.
Tuesday marked six months since the Canadian suffered a horrible accident while racing at Pocono Raceway where he suffered a spinal cord injury however he has not let this phase him and he been extremely strong and motivated by all of the support that he has received from everyone in the NTT IndyCar Series and beyond and this along with the help of the medical team who have treated him he was able to surprise Carli by standing infront of her and giving her a hug.
Wickens understanding that he has a long way to recovery but just last month he was in Colorado with his NTT IndyCar Series team mates James Hinchcliffe and Marcus Ericsson for the launch of Arrow Schmidt Peterson Motorsports.
The team have said that the No.6 Arrow Electronics Honda is there waiting for him when he feels ready to return to NTT IndyCar Series competition.
The 2019 NTT IndyCar Series season gets underway in just over two weeks time with the Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg.
