Former Williams Racing Deputy Team Principal Claire Williams says that one of the things that killed the Grove-based outfit was the fact that the team were overspending.
Speaking to the Business Of Sports podcast, Williams said that her team spent 120 million pounds in 2020 and that ultimately resulted in the family selling the team to U.S investment firm Dorilton Capital.
Williams said that she would still be with the team her dad, Sir Frank founded today had they waited it out until 2021 which resulted in the massive growth of Formula One with thanks to series four of the Netflix documentary series Drive To Survive.
Williams is still involved in Formula One despite leaving the Williams team following the 2020 Italian Grand Prix as she is no a contributor to Drive To Survive.
Williams also said that she took offer the role of team principal from Sir Frank at the age of 36 and that it took her a couple of seasons to be taken seriously by the other team bosses in the Formula One.
