Stefan Wilson returns to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway albeit in the virtual world later today as he prepares to roll off eleventh in the NTT IndyCar Series iRacing Challenge season finale First Responder 175 presented by GMR. The Sheffield native, and younger brother to Justin Wilson will be driving the No.25 Omologato/Epedia VIP Access Chevrolet for Juncos Racing.
Wilson has found memories of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway having come within five laps of winning the 2018 102nd running of the Indianapolis 500 with Andretti Autosport.
In 2018, Wilson started 23rd in the No.25 Indiana Donor Network Honda for Andretti Autosport and led three laps of the race coming home in in 15th place following a late dash to the pits for a splash of fuel. The Englishman is hoping that he have a strong race today and although it is an iRacing event for the likes of Wilson and other drivers it is an opportunity to show existing and potential partners not only what they can do but also what the NTT IndyCar Series can do for them.
The field of 33 drivers has been set and ahead of the race this afternoon. Wilson and Juncos Racing will be hoping for a strong result today that could lead to a drive together in the 104th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge which takes place on Sunday August 23.
