The FIA World Rally Championship is in active discussions to expand the sport into North America, with active talks ongoing with different U.S. bodies about the prospect of bringing the sport back to the United States for the time in over 35 years.

Speaking to Paddock Eye at the Blackbook Motorsports Forum, 2023, at the Oval in London, Head of Business Development with WRC Promoter Marc De Jong said that the United States is a big market for the World Rally Championship, and it is somewhere that the sport needs to be.

The FIA World Rally Championship competes in 13 countries worldwide; however, the U.S. is not yet on the calendar, which De Jong says will change very soon.

The Detroit-based Ford Motor Company are heavily involved in the FIA World Rally Championship through their motorsport brand, Ford Performance of course, has partnered with M-Sport, and this has been a critical partnership for the sport as Ford played an instrumental role in the introduction of the new Hybrid era of the rally car that was introduced last year, the Rally1 car.
