Arrow McLaren’s Alexander Rossi says that the NTT INDYCAR SERIES’s desire to return to places they raced at before is an excellent idea in theory but warned that it has to make sense.
Speaking during a pre-race call on Tuesday ahead of this weekend’s Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach, the two-time winner, who took back-to-back victories in 2018 and 2019, said that he was only speaking to someone today (Tuesday) that it needs to make commercial sense as fans need to be able to travel to the race track and get accommodation.
Rossi’s comments come after officials from the NTT INDYCAR SERIES visited Argentina recently to scout whether or not it is feasible for the series to compete in Argentina soon.
Argentina is not the only location that has been touted as somewhere that the series will visit. Mexico City has also been touted as a potential venue for a future NT INDYCAR SERIES venue.
Fans of the NTT INDYCAR SERIES have recently called for more oval races to be added to the calendar. Texas Motor Speedway, the Indianapolis 500, and a doubleheader at Iowa Speedway were re-introduced to the calendar with sponsorship from grocery store chain Hy-Vee and the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 at World Wide Technology Raceway.
