Six-time NTT INDYCAR SERIES champion Scott Dixon’s hopes of a seventh championship effectively ended on the opening lap of the BitNile.com Portland Grand Prix on Sunday.

The Iceman went into the race, 65 points behind championship leader Alex Palou.

Dixon was caught up in an incident after being hit by Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Pietro Fittipaldi on the opening lap of the race.

Ascit stands, Dixon is in fifth in the championship, 100 points behind Palou.
