NASCAR Cup Series legend turned team owner Jimmie Johnson has confirmed he will not run a car at the Indianapolis 500 in May.
Recent speculation linked Johnson with running an car with Chip Ganassi Racing alongside Tom Brady with Sébastien Bourdais behind the wheel but speaking to Kelly Crandell at Daytona on Friday, Johnson said that his team, Legacy Motor Club ae not ready for such a move.
Johnson did confirm that he did hold initial discussions with INDYCAR team owner Chip Ganassi earlier this year but he said that nothing came of it.
Johnson also said that there is a lot of changes happening in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES now and in the medium term so he is going to wait and see what happens.
The 109th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge takes place on Sunday, May 25.
