Kyle Kirkwood in the No.27 AutoNation Honda is the highest-placed Andretti Autosport driver for qualifying for the 107th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge next weekend. Kirkwood set a four-lap average speed of 232.662MPH, and speaking following the action he commented saying:
“It was a hard day. We started off not where we expected to be honestly with how good we were yesterday. I’m not really sure where the pace went. Ultimately, we made the car a little bit faster and I was really happy with the balance. It put us in the top 12 there for awhile until others went out with better weather conditions. We’re quite happy with it. Once the race comes, we know that it will be an even playing field. We feel really good with the No. 27 AutoNation Honda and I am good with mid-pack at this point.”
Romain Grosjean in the No.28 DHL Honda starts the race from 19th place having set a four-lap average speed of 231.997MPH and speaking following the action he said:
“We’re locked in which is the main target of the day. As a team, I think we are a bit disappointed at what happened today. For the No. 28 DHL Honda, we know we didn’t have the right speed, so we tried some stuff in the afternoon but it didn’t really work for us. We’re going to get back to work.”
Devlin DeFrancesco in his second Indianapolis 500 starts the race from 26th place with a four-lap average speed of 231.353MPH and speaking following the action he commented saying:
“Quite a stressful day for the whole No. 29 Sodexo Honda crew. We’re safely in, so that’s a relief after how stressful it was this morning during our first run at practice. We’ll see if we can find anything in race trim on Monday and be ready to go for the race next weekend.”
Colton Herta in the No.26 Gainbridge Honda starts the race from 21st place following a four-lap average speed of 231.951MPH and speaking following the action he commented saying:
“It was a pretty up and down day. Unfortunately, we didn’t have the pace in the end to really contend for much, so we’ll roll out P21. It’s obviously not a great spot to start in, but it’s not the worst when we solidified ourself in the race. Hopefully we can find some good pace in the next few practice sessions and make the No. 26 Gainbridge Honda faster so we can race up to the front from there.”
Marco Andretti in the No.98 Kulr /Curb Honda starts the race from 24th place following a four-lap average speed of 231.682MPH and speaking following the action he said:
“We know what the No. 98 KULR / Curb Honda is capable of, so it’s frustrating that we’re in a position where we can’t compete for the pole tomorrow. Right now, we’re going to regroup as a team and make the adjustments needed so that we’re ready to get back on the track.”
