Defending INDY NXT presented by Firestone champion Linus Lundqvist was in NTT INDYCAR SERIES action with Ed Carpenter Racing on Thursday.
The Swede, driving the No.21 BitNile Chevrolet completed 150 laps during the day.
Speaking following the action he said:
It’s been a great day, and a pleasure to work with everyone at Ed Carpenter Racing for the first time. “It was really busy with a lot of time and mileage in the car, which is particularly useful in a year like this when I’m not racing regularly. The pace was encouraging from the get-go and the team were able to test a lot of different things, which was good. It’s all smiles; it’s been a terrific day.”
It was announced on Thursday that NTT INDYCAR SERIES veteran Ryan Hunter-Reay will take over the No.20 BitNile Chevrolet vacated by Conor Daly starting with the Sonsio Grand Prix of Road America next weekend.
The test with Ed Carpenter Racing was the Swede’s first time experiencing Chevrolet power having previously tested for the Honda-powered Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing team.
“There were a few things to adapt to today, but it actually went really well. “The two different engines have quite different characteristics, which was interesting to experience, and it was nearly two years since I last drove an Indy car on a road course. That’s obviously very different to an oval. Lots learned for all of us, and I hope I’ll be back in the car soon.”
