Linus Lundqvist in the No.8 BeTheOne Chip Ganassi Racing Honda carved his way through the carnage at World Wide Technology Raceway, coming from 18th on the grid to finish the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 on the podium in third place. In doing so, he matched his career-best result, which came at Barber Motorsports Park earlier this season.
Speaking following the race, Lundqvist commented saying:
“Mega race. Kind of had a bit of everything. Early on we were on a fuel save strategy. But there was a stint in the middle
where we pushed to the max, absolutely flat out. And then towards the end, we had five of six laps to kind of let everything happen. I’m extremely happy to walk away with a podium here.”
Meanwhile, while Lundqvist came home with a podium, his teammate and championship leader Alex Palou in the No.10 Samaritan’s Purse Honda came from 16th on the grid to finish the race in fourth thanks to Colton Herta’s post-race blocking penalty and speaking following the race, Palou said:
“I mean, we survived a very long day, and into the night! We knew that it was going to be a long, long race with lots
happening. So goal #1 was to survive. We did that, and then some. We got some good championship points. Could have been a little bit better. Obviously, you always want to win, but glad everything worked out for the 10 car here.”
Despite being hampered for much of the race following an ill-timed caution, six-time series champion Scott Dixon in the No.9 PNC Bank Honda remains firmly in the title fight as he came 11th, maintaining his third place in the championship with four races remaining, albeit 65 points behind Palou. Speaking following the action, Dixon said:
Tough weekend; nothing really went our way. Crew did a great job in the pits as always.
