The MoneyGram Haas F1 Team’s Kevin Magnussen will miss the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku next time after been penalized for a collision with the Visa Cash App RB team driver of Pierre Gasly.
The resulting collion during Sunday’s Italian Grand Prix at the Monza circuit saw Magnussen receive a ten second penalty and 2 penalty points on his Super Licence.
It is unclear who will fill in for Magnussen for the race in Baku although it will most likely be Oliver Bearman as the team’s other reserve driver Pietro Fittipaldi will be ending his NTT INDYCAR SERIES season with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing in Nashville.
The Italian Grand Prix on Sunday was won by Scuderia Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc while Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris completed the podium.
Carlos Sainz was fourth just ahead of Lewis Hamilton while Max Verstappen was sixth.
George Russell was seventh just ahead of Sergio Perez while Williams Racing’s Alex Albon finished the race in 9th place just ahead of Kevin Magnussen.
Fernando Alonso was 11th just ahead of Williams Franco Colapinto.
Daniel Ricciardo was 13th just ahead of Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly. Valtteri Bottas was 16th just ahead of Nico Hulkenberg and Guanyu Zhou. Lance Stroll rounded out the order for Aston Martin.
There was just one retirement from the race as Yuki Tsunoda failed to finish.
Away from the racing action, there were some very special guests in the F1 Paddock this weekend as for the first time since 2021, Kimi Raikkonen returned to a Grand Prix.
The Iceman was joined by his family. The Finn was at the race with his sponsor who also sponsor the Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber outfit.
