Defending NTT INDYCAR SERIES champion Alex Palou in the No.10 DHL chip Ganassi Racing Honda went back-to-back at the Thermal Club INDYCAR Grand Prix on Sunday.
The Spaniard started the race from third and with ten laps to go he overtook pole-sitter Pato O’Ward who dominated the race.
Christian Lundgaard came home third for Arrow McLaren just ahead of Andretti Global’s Colton Herta while Meyer Shank Racing’s Felix Rosenqvist came home in fifth.
Will Power was the biggest mover in the race as he came from the rear of the field to finish the race in sixth place just ahead of Marcus Armstrong.
Kyle Kirkwood came home in eighth place just ahead of Alexander Rossi.
On the last lap of the race, Scott Dixon in the No.9 PNC Bank Chip Ganassi Racing who started the race in 11th came home in tenth however, despite this he has moved to third in the championship two points behind Pato O’Ward.
Graham Rahal was 11th just ahead of Christian Rasmussen and Josef Newgarden who came through the field to finish the race in 13th.
Santino Ferrucci had a solid race in the No.14 Sexton Properties AJ Foyt Racing Chevrolet as he came home in 14th.
Kyffin Simpson ended the race in 15th just ahead of Juncos Hollinger Racing’s Conor Daly.
Rinus VeeKay had a solid weekend but leaves Thermal with a 17th place finish.
David Malukas was 18th just ahead of Nolan Siegel and Devlin DeFrancesco. Marcus Ericsson ended fhe race 21st just ahead of Robert Shwartzman and Sting Ray Robb.
There was disappointment for Louis Foster who suffered a hybrid issue on the formation lap and came home in 24th just ahead of Jacob Abel and Callum Ilott.
Scott McLaughlin was the only retirement from the race which featured no cautions for the first time since 2020.
