Defending NTT INDYCAR SERIES champion Alex Palou in the No.10 DHL Chip Ganassi Racing Honda says that it’s been a tough day despite scoring his first NTT P1 Award of the season at the IMS road course for Saturday’s Sonsio Grand Prix of Indianapolis on the IMS road course. Speaking after setting a 01:09.0004s the Spaniard said:

“It’s been a tough day, honestly. “Practice 1 and Practice 2 wasn’t amazing. Even the start of qualifying, too. So, really happy to be there. Didn’t expect it. I’ll take it.

“It was my mom’s birthday today, so it’s probably a good birthday present.”

Palou who goes into the race in third place in championship went on to say:

Yeah, amazing. Poles in the series are very hard to get nowadays in INDYCAR. Honestly, it was tough day today, with almost no breaks with two practices and qualifying; and we struggled a little bit in the first session. But Honda gave us a great engine today and the team did a great job, giving me what I needed for qualifying.”
