Chip Ganassi Racing’s Alex Palou in the No.10 DHL Honda has revealed that he was sick over the Thermal Club INDYCAR weekend.

The three-time and defending NTT INDYCAR SERIES champion confirmed he was not well during the post race press conference on Sunday after the Spaniard took his second victory of the season.

Palou said that he had been struggling during the week but felt a little better on Sunday despite the 90 degrees plus temperatures in California on race day.

Starting the race from third behind the Arrow McLaren duo of Pato O’Ward and Christian Lundgaard, Palou played the waiting game and took the lead with ten laps to go.

The result means that Palou heads to Long Beach next month with a 39 point lead in the championship over Arrow McLaren’s Pato O’Ward.
