PREMA Racing has been fined $25,000 with the No.83 entrant of Robert Shwartzman docked 10 championship points associated with the The Thermal Club INDYCAR race.
The penalties come after and investigation by INDYCAR showed that PREMA Racing was in violation of:
- Rule 14.1.3. All parts provided by an Approved Supplier must be used as supplied without modification unless otherwise approved by INDYCAR and stated in these Rules or in update bulletins.
INDYCAR determined the required and approved emergency pull cable, which activates the onboard fire suppression system, was not used as supplied and was replaced by the team with an unapproved product that failed to activate.
Schwartzman was on track at Nashville Super Speedway earlier this week to competing his oval orientation and was joined at the test by Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Louis Foster.
The next race on the calendar is the 50th edition of the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach on April 13.
