Today’s the day! The wait is finally over. After over a year of construction work and renovations, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum reopens today. Fans of the Greatest Spectacle In Racing are in for a treat.
The museum’s basement is open to the public for the first time. The basement has plenty for fans to see from NASCAR star Jeff Gordon’s No.24 Hendrick Motorsports car. A dedicated Penske exhibit called the Penske Gallery also chronicles Roger Penske’s exceptional record and success at the Greatest Spectacle In Racing. There are helmets from each of his 20 Indy 500 victories, and some of the helmets still have milk on the visor.
The museum also reveals the rich history of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, including how the famed Gasoline Alley started and how it has evolved to the present day. For more information or to book your tickets for the museum, click here.
