Defending NASCAR Cup Series champion and current championship leader Joey Logano of Team Penske says that it is awesome to have two Formula One world champions and seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson in the field for Sunday’s NASCAR race in COTA.

Formula One and NASCAR collide at the Circuit of the Americas, as Jenson Button and Kimi Raikkonen will compete on the same track together.

The last time the pair competed together was at the 2017 Monaco Grand Prix.

Button was filling in for Fernando Alonso at McLaren failed to finish the race while Kimi Raikkonen, who started the race from pole position came home second.

Speaking ahead of Sunday’s race in Austin, Joey Logano said:

I think it’s awesome. “I mean, these are guys that — besides Jimmie [Johnson] who I’ve gotten to race against Jimmie for a long time — but you know, F1 guys, we don’t ever get the opportunity to stack up against those guys, right? They grew up racing completely different cars in different countries, and you make it to the pinnacle of what your discipline is.

“Like stock-car racing is what we all decided we wanted to do over here, and they wanted to be F1 superstars, right? And because we went completely different paths, we don’t ever get to race each other, and like, you always wonder, where do you stack up on a world scale? Where am I? I know where I’m at in Cup, but where am I in the world scale? And how do you compete, and this is a really cool way just to see a lot of them jump in here and try it.”
