Indianapolis 500 polesitter Scott McLaughlin in the No.3 Pennzoil Team Penske Chevrolet says that the Thirsty 3’s are coming.

McLaughlin became only the second New Zealander to score pole for the Greatest Spectacle In Racing, the other being Scott Dixon who has been on pole here five times.

McLaughlin’s four-lap average speed was a record for the Speedway with a 234.220MPH and speaking following the action he said:

Welcome to the party. “The Pennzoil Chevy was unreal. There’s so much pride in being able to do it. I’m working hard. Indy hasn’t been kind to me, and a lot of it was my doing. I need to work on things. This is the first step. The Thirsty 3’s, baby, we’re coming.”

For the first time since 1988, Team Penske locked out the front row.
