Will Power in the No.12 Verizon Team Penske Chevrolet was fastest on Friday at the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach.

Power who set a 01:07.3227s commented saying:

“It was pretty good. “Definitely determined to get qualifying right. Haven’t for the last couple races. Got to work on that. It’s going to be really tight.

Power went on to say:

“I had a bit of an issue with rear brakes. “Something weird. I almost crashed twice, but the car is in a reasonable window.”

Andretti Global’s Marcus Ericsson and Kyle Kirkwood rounded out the top three with Meyer Shank Racing’s Marcus Armstrong and Felix Rosenqvist.

Josef Newgarden was sixth just ahead of championship leader Alex Palou while Colton Herta was eighth.

Christian Lundgaard was ninth while last year’s Long Beach winner Scott Dixon rounded out the top ten.

Nolan Siegel was 11th just ahead of Scott McLaughlin and Pato O’Ward while Juncos Hollinger Racing’s Conor Daly was 14th and speaking following the action he said:

Honestly, it was just nice to be back at Long Beach. I think this is place is awesome, and the crowd today here on a Friday is like nothing I’ve seen in my life. Shoutout to the crowd for being here and supporting us. We got through a lot of changes, and definitely need a few more, but we’re learning so much as a group on the fly. I think every day is a good learning experience for us. We had some decent pace for us in our group, so we’ll see what we can do tomorrow.”

Louis Foster was 15th just ahead of AJ Foyt Racing’s David Malukas and Kyffin Simpson.

Santino Ferrucci was 18th fastest just ahead of Graham Rahal and Prema Racing’s Robert Shwartzman.

Christian Rasmussen was 21st for Ed Carpenter Racing just ahead of Sting Ray Robb and Callum Ilott.

Alexander Rossi was 24th just ahead of Devlin DeFrancesco and Rinus VeeKay while Jacob Abel rounded out the order.
