Andretti Global look extremely strong here in Long Beach as they locked out the front row with Kyle Kirkwood and Colton Herta.
The field is still chasing championship leader Alex Palou who heads into the race with a 39 point lead over Pato O’Ward.
Palou will start today’s race from third place while Felix Rosenqvist is fourth for Meyer Shank Racing.
The MSR drivers have been extremely quick this weekend with Marcus Armstrong starting the race from seventh.
It is going be extremely interesting to see what happens today with many drivers out of place on the grid. For example, Will Power, Scott Dixon and Josef Newgarden all start from 13th, 14th and 15th respectively, so we can expect them to move forward in the 90 lap race.
Graham Rahal is also out of place in the No.15 Fleet Cost And Care Honda starting the race from 16th.
AJ Foyt Racing’s Santino Ferrucci in the No.14 Sexton Properties Chevrolet is also out of placeas he starts from 27th following a tough qualifying.
Ferrucci said:
We struggled all the way through the weekend,” Ferrucci revealed. “Made some pretty big changes in the car going into qualifying. It felt really good. Honestly, I think we made some solid strides. The car was very capable of advancing. I just had a slight bobble in (turn) eight, and I clipped the wall the wrong way. It unfortunately ended our session. But I feel really good about being able to move forward. I think the car is in a really good spot at the moment. We’re not really going to change anything going into tomorrow’s warm up, and we’re going to do what we got to do to advance. Hopefully, it’s entertaining.”
